Press Statement re Planned Closure of Lower Compton HRC

Cherhill Parish Council is totally opposed to the shock decision by our Unitary Authority to close 2 of it’s Household Recycling Centres, including that at Lower Compton in our parish. This is a widely used and well run facility. A letter of protest had been sent to the Wiltshire Cabinet prior to it’s meeting In December but was ignored. Consequently a press statement was prepared at the request of local media and also circulated to Wiltshire Council’s Leader, to the Cabinet Member for Environment, Climate and Waste, also to Calne Town Council and neighbouring parish councils that will be affected by the Lower Compton closure. No proper response as yet from those concerned at Wiltshire Council but for more details please see the Press Statement attached.
