Cherhill Parish Council currently has a vacancy for a Parish Councillor representing Lower Compton Ward. This is a rewarding opportunity to play an active role in local decision-making and help shape the future of your community.
What does a Parish Councillor do?
Parish councillors are elected representatives who work on behalf of local residents and help ensure the parish remains a great place to live. Responsibilities include:
- Representing the interests and views of local residents.
- Attending Parish Council meetings and participating in decision-making.
- Helping to develop and support local projects and initiatives.
- Contributing to discussions on planning applications and local services.
- Working with community groups, residents, and local authorities.
- Helping to manage council resources and set priorities for the parish.
- Parish councillors provide community leadership and work together to improve local facilities, services, and the overall wellbeing of the parish.
Who can apply?
To be eligible to serve as a parish councillor, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a British citizen, eligible Commonwealth citizen, citizen of the Republic of Ireland, qualifying EU citizen, or EU citizen with retained rights.
- Meet at least one of the following conditions:
- Be registered as a local government elector in the parish.
- Have occupied land or premises in the parish as an owner or tenant during the previous 12 months.
- Have had your main or only place of work in the parish during the previous 12 months.
- Have lived in the parish, or within three miles of it, during the previous 12 months.
